Membership How much does membership cost? Registration as a Make New Friends member is free of charge. Once registered, you can set up a profile, upload a photograph, view the list of current events in your area create your own events and even take part in discussion forums. If you wish to exchange personal contact details with other members, there is a small monthly charge of £4.99 for this service. Do you offer discounts? We don't currently offer any discounts. How do I upgrade to full membership? If you wish to upgrade to full membership, simply click on the upgrade link from your Homepage and follow the simple instructions. Are my personal details secure? Make New Friends is committed to maintaining the security of the information you provide. We use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology to ensure that the personal information you enter on our website is securely transferred to our web server. We also use other industry standard practices to ensure data security is maintained. How do I cancel my membership? You can cancel your membership at anytime by selecting the relevant option in My Account. If you are a full member, we will automatically cancel your monthly payment. You will continue to benefit from full membership status until one month after the date of your last payment. After this time, your membership will refer to the basic free membership. How do I revert to free membership? By cancelling full membership, you will automatically revert to free membership. I cancelled full membership but have changed my mind…. You can reinstate full membership after you have cancelled by selecting the appropriate option in My Account. If your full membership has not completely expired, your next payment will be debited one month after the date of your last payment. What information is made available to other members? Other members can view your First Name, Age, Screen Name, Location (Post Town), Screen Name and the approximate distance between your two towns. All other information, including address, postcode, telephone number, date of birth and email address remains private. I have changed my email address, postal address or telephone number - how do I update my account? You can make these changes by accessing the Personal Details option in My Account. How do I change my Password? You can change your password by accessing the Change Password option in My Account. How do I amend other details such as my surname? To change other personal details, please contact us. Payment What payment methods do you accept? We accept payment via debit or credit card, using the Worldpay system. How does the monthly payment work? When you upgrade to full membership, you will be asked to provide debit or credit card details via Worldpay's secure payment website. The first payment will be deducted immediately and a Worldpay Futurepay agreement will be set up which will automatically debit your monthly subscription for each subsequent month. You will be able to monitor your monthly payments via the Worldpay Shopper Management system. For more information about Futurepay, click here. How do I cancel my monthly payment? If you cancel full membership by selecting the appropriate option in My Account, your monthly payment will be automatically cancelled, and you will receive confirmation via email. If you prefer, you can also cancel your payment using the Worldpay Shopper Management System. Can I get a refund? Refunds of membership fees are not given. Who do I contact about payment queries? In the first instance please contact Make New Friends about any payment queries you may have. Using the Site I am having problems logging in. What should I do? Please check that you have entered the correct email address and password (password is case sensitive). If you have forgotten your password, click on the 'Login Help' link on the home page (above the Password box) and follow the instructions. If you continue to have problems, please contact us. What happens if I forget or can no longer access the registered email address? Please contact us with all relevant details. Can I exchange personal details with other members? Yes. Full members can exchange personal contact details with other members. However, we recommend you do not give out personal details to other members until you feel absolutely comfortable about doing so. Are the message forums moderated? Yes - Make New Friends reviews all postings before they are published to ensure they meet the requirements set out in our Terms and Conditions. We believe this greatly improves the online experience for all of our members. I have submitted a message or event but it is not showing on the site. Why? As all messages are reviewed by Make New Friends staff, there may be a short delay between you posting the message and it appearing on the website. I am having problems uploading my photograph. What can I do? The file you are trying to upload may be the wrong type (it needs to be a jpeg or gif file), or the file size may be too large. If you continue to have problems, you can email it to us at photos@makenewfriends.co.uk. Events How do I arrange an event? Members can publish event details on the site by selecting Organise an Event and entering relevant details. What if I want to arrange an event, and the appropriate category is not listed? Please contact us with details of the event category you would like to be added. How can I ensure my event details are only visible to selected members? When you create your event, you can choose to make it a private event. Other members will then have to send you a message if they want to see the full details. You can then decide whether to let them view the full details of your event. How do I update event details? If you want to add additional information, simply post a new message in the event forum with the extra details. If you wish to amend the date, time or location of the event, then please contact us with the details. How do I cancel an event? If you wish to cancel an event that you are organising, simply view the event details and click on the Cancel Event link. What is the difference between a public and private event? If you create a public event, all members of Make New Friends can view the details and participate in the event forum. If you wish to decide which members have access to details of the event, you should make the event private. Members will then be asked to send you a message to request an invitation to the event and you will be able to decide whether to grant access or not. How do I view details of a private event? If you select a private event, you will be asked to send a message to the organiser. When the organiser receives your message they will decide whether or not to send you an invite. Once you have been invited, you will be able to view event details and participate in the event forum. How do I sign up to an event? You can sign up to an event by clicking on the sign up link from the event forum. What advice do you give people attending events? We suggest you do the following: · Make sure you are happy with the location of the event and how you are going to find the other members.
